Small Unit Tactics
This class is designed to teach the fundamentals of small unit tactics. Topics covered will include: principles of patrolling, mission planning, movement formations and techniques, patrol organization, patrolling techniques, battle drills and more. We will have a short session on weapon handling to tune everyone up and then move into the tactics block. You will learn the material via small lectures, dry and live fire work, and extended fire drills. Culmination exercise will be a full mission profile to include live fire.
This will be a physically challenging class. It will involve carrying your gear and weapon all day long, as well as require short sprints, dropping into position and getting back on your feet quickly and traversing rough and uneven terrain. Be certain you have an understanding of safe weapon handling.
In short -
1. Be in good enough shape to carry all your gear all day long
2. Know marksmanship and reflexive gunhandling
3. Take care of yourself-all the little things like hydration and the little ouchies we all succumb to from time to time.
Bring - Range safety gear such as ear and eye protection, Rifle and several magazines (including a way to carry them), Rifle sling and any other tactical gear you normally use. Bring hydration equipment, food snacks, note taking material and a small first aid kit. The weather is unpredictable so come prepared as we will train regardless of weather. If you have a copy of SH 21-76 Ranger Handbook and/or FM 7-8 Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad bring it.
Duration: 2.5 days; Friday 1700-2200; Saturday 0900-2000; Sunday 0900-1600
